Hazardous areas are typically found in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food processing industries, but also in aerospace, fuel handling and many other sectors. Different systems are used to classify each type of hazard and whether it is always present or only arises under certain circumstances.
Intrinsically safe
Ascom IP-DECT devices are classified as “intrinsically safe” (Ex ’i’). That is, they are certified as causing no risk of explosion in gas and dust environments, while still delivering the same unequalled functionality, flexibility and cost-efficiency as other Ascom products used in normal environments.
